These Anglican prayer beads are part of our new Iona collection, a series of handmade devotional pieces inspired by the island of Iona, Saint Columba, and the carved Christian heritage of the west of Scotland.
This handheld rosary is made with 8mm lapis lazuli beads, linked with gold-tone stainless steel metalwork. The cross is based on our own sketches of Saint Martin’s Cross on Iona — one of Scotland’s most recognisable early Christian crosses, standing as a symbol of pilgrimage, prayer, witness and the long Celtic Christian story of the island.
The cross is deliberately rich in detail, with a different design on each side. One side has a more open Celtic cross feeling, while the other has a longer carved-panel appearance, echoing the sense of ancient stonework, worn pattern and devotional art. This makes the piece tactile as well as visual — something to hold, turn, and pray with.
These are Anglican / Episcopal prayer beads rather than a necklace. They are intended to be held in the hand as a quiet companion for prayer, reflection, pilgrimage, grief, thanksgiving or beginning again.
