Lapis and Steel Saint Francis 5 Decade Catholic Rosary
MADE FOR THE PILGRIM PATH
This rosary began with the Saint Francis metalwork.
At its centre, Francis is shown within the created world he regarded as kin. Beneath it hangs a substantial steel Tau cross bearing his image. The Tau became one of Francis’s most personal signs—he even used it in place of his signature—and remains a simple reminder that the life of faith is a journey begun again each day.
I have paired this richly detailed steel metalwork with natural lapis lazuli. Every 8mm bead carries its own shifting shades and markings, from deep blue to softer grey, white and occasional golden veining. These natural variations give every finished rosary a character of its own.
At approximately 100g, this is a substantial piece with a reassuring weight in the hand. It is made for slow, deliberate prayer: something to hold, use and return to on the pilgrim path.
Each five-decade Catholic rosary is assembled by hand in my workshop in Paisley, Scotland. Although generously sized, it is a handheld rosary rather than a necklace.

As lapis lazuli is a natural material, the precise shades, veining and markings will vary slightly. These variations are part of the individual character of every piece.
