Saint Francis Tau Cross Anglican Rosary - Lapis Lazuli

Saint Francis Tau Cross Anglican Rosary - Lapis Lazuli

Some devotional objects ask to be held.

Deep-blue lapis lazuli meets warm antiqued brass in this Anglican rosary, giving it a rustic, substantial character that feels both ancient and alive. At its heart is a richly worked Tau cross. Saint Francis stands with his arms open among the birds and the small signs of creation; the metal is textured rather than highly polished, with the weighty charm of something formed for the hand.

The Tau was the simplest of crosses and a sign Saint Francis made his own. Beneath a thumb, it may turn attention back to Christ; the little bee worked into the design may return the mind to the created life entrusted to our care. This is a practical devotional piece—made to be held, used and returned to in prayer.

Four groups of seven 8mm lapis lazuli “week” beads are divided by richly textured antiqued-brass cruciform beads. An invitatory bead leads to the Tau cross, completing the traditional 33-bead Anglican—or Episcopal—arrangement.

Each lapis lazuli bead carries its own variations of blue and natural mineral patterning. Against the warm, timeworn brass, the stone feels especially rich. The deliberately rustic metalwork gives the rosary a satisfyingly substantial presence without losing the rhythm needed for prayer.

This is a handheld Anglican rosary. It is not designed or sized to be worn as a necklace. It may be used with a traditional Anglican prayer-bead devotion, the Jesus Prayer, the Psalms, Scripture or a quiet pattern of repeated prayer of your own.

Designed and made by hand in Paisley, Scotland, as part of the Paisley Honey Saint Francis Collection. This piece was created during the eighth centenary year of the Transitus of Saint Francis, 1226–2026.

OPTIONAL ENGRAVING

Personal engraving of up to 30 characters is available as a paid extra.

Engraving is included only when an engraved variation is selected from the dropdown menu. Please enter the name, date or short message exactly as required in the personalisation box. Adding wording to the box without selecting an engraved variation does not purchase engraving.

Please check spelling and capitalisation carefully. Personalised pieces cannot be returned unless faulty.

OPTIONAL MATCHING BRACELET

A coordinating lapis lazuli and antiqued-brass bracelet is available as an additional extra. It is included only when one of the bracelet-set variations is selected.

The standard bracelet is made for a wrist measuring approximately 16cm or 6.3 inches. Custom sizing is available free of charge before dispatch. Please provide the actual snug wrist measurement in centimetres or inches—not the desired finished bracelet length—so that an appropriate allowance can be made for a comfortable fit.

STONE AND FINISH

Variations in the colour and markings of the lapis lazuli are natural and make each rosary individual. The antiqued brass is intentionally warm, rustic and timeworn rather than uniformly polished.

Please keep the rosary away from water, perfume and household chemicals. Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth when necessary.

This is an independently designed and handmade devotional piece, not an official Franciscan centenary item. It contains small parts and is not a toy.

Especially fitting for an Anglican or Episcopal confirmation, reception, ordination or retreat; for the Feast of Saint Francis; or as a lasting companion for someone drawn to Franciscan spirituality, creation and the quiet discipline of prayer.
